Attica

Region

"Attica (Greek: Αττική, Ancient Greek Attikḗ or Attikī́; Ancient Greek: [atːikɛ̌ː] or Modern: [atiˈci]), or the Attic peninsula, is a historical region that encompasses the city of Athens, the capital of Greece. It is a peninsula projecting into the Aegean Sea, bordering on Boeotia to the north and Megaris to the west. The southern tip of the peninsula, known as Laurion, was an important mining region.

The history of Attica is tightly linked with that of Athens, and specifically the Golden Age of Athens during the classical period. Ancient Attica (Athens city-state) was divided into demoi or municipalities from the reform of Cleisthenes in 508/7 BC, grouped into three zones: urban (astu) in the region of Athens main city and Piraeus (port of Athens), coastal (paralia) along the coastline and inland (mesogeia) in the interior.

The modern administrative region of Attica is more extensive than the historical region and includes Megaris as part of the regional unit West Attica, and the Saronic Islands and Cythera, as well as the municipality of Troizinia on the Peloponnesian mainland, as the regional unit Islands." Poros

We arrived here after travelling through the corinthian canal and we struggled to find a mooring new the town. We walked into town and it is very pretty fishing village that livens up at night.

Kiriacoulis Sailing (Kalamaki-Alimos )

We rented a sailing boat with Kiriacoulis in the south of France. The boat was in a poor shape, and many parts had to be replaced (upon our demand) at check in. We had an issue at see on day 4 (Genoa topped broke due to over usage!) and maintenance / support of the crew was poor (actually inexistant). Following our trip, no one dares or cares providing an answer to our complaints... avoid this company by any means! In 15 years of charting with other companies I’ve never had such a bad experience

Kiriacoulis Sailing (Kalamaki-Alimos )

Charter was an older boat and rigging was salt encrusted (but we were in the Med, so its to be expected). Hand over despite language problems was thorougher with focus on the important stuff. Loads of spares on board and hand back to fleet manager was smooth and hassle free. Having read some bad reviews I was nervous: but was very happy with my experience with them - hence this review.

Kiriacoulis Sailing (Kalamaki-Alimos )

Maybe I am new to sailing world but my 3 years experience with this chartering company it was great.2 times with sail boat and 1 with catamaran

Kiriacoulis Sailing (Kalamaki-Alimos )

I also used Kiriacoulis and had to wait several hours to get on the boat due to battery issues. Two days later while at sea the engine would not start due to battery issues so I had to sail into the marina with no engine, in good weather this is doable but in bad weather could be unnecessarily dangerous. This is awful maintenance.

Never ever use this company. They clearly operate a fix on fail policy with regard to maintenance - not ideal on a charter yacht. Many non - working gauges, twisted, heavily salted lines, a broken swim ladder and the piéce de resistance, a sea cock with metal fatigue, opening up a 50mm hole below the water in a F6-7. No apology from Kiriacoulis - just a desperate panic to fix the hole for the following day's charter party. Use at your own risk.
